Yemen

In 2006, the Hayel Saeed Anam Group was one of the main investors and employers in the southern region of Yemen. They conceived the plan to create a private healthcare facility in the Aden area and asked AMPC to develop a feasibility study and design for the project. AMPC teamed up with EGM Architects to carry out the assignment that also included developing a master plan for the areas surrounding the hospital. A market study was carried out and its results, together with those of in-depth discussions with local stakeholders, led to the project design for a medical complex that not only included a general hospital and outpatient facilities, but also housing facilities for staff, hotel facilities for patients and families, recreational areas and commercial spaces. Financial modelling showed the project to be commercially viable. A complete feasibility study and master plan were presented to the client together with a phased implementation schedule. However, due to the 2008 financial crisis the project was never implemented.
