AMPC, together with PharmAccess Consultancy, was selected by the African Development Bank (AfDB) to carry out a due diligence study for a greenfield private hospital project in the Gambia. The goal of the assignment was to review the technical, operational and commercial aspects of the project and to advise the AfDB on the completeness and appropriateness of the arrangements proposed and the financial projections developed. A due diligence framework was designed, and based on a review of project documentation, site visits, and stakeholder consultations, all relevant aspects were scored based on the availability of information as well as its quality, and the level of risk the absence or incompleteness of information presented for the decision-making process. Besides the key findings, the full due diligence report included additional technical advice on the health service delivery model, phased implementation, technical specifications for the hospital design and equipment planning, and a revised financial model. Based on the due diligence report, the AfDB decided to pursue investment in the project.
